Nice to meet you

From door-to-door sales to AI for essential industries.

Technology shouldn't exist because it is

impressive. It should save time, cut

cost, or solve a problem people have.

My story
I'm a Chinese-Canadian entrepreneur, born in Montréal and
schooled mostly in French, now building in the San Francisco
Bay Area. I began without a technical degree or a network.
I started in door-to-door sales.
Sales taught me what a textbook cannot: how to approach a
stranger, hear the real objection behind the polite one, and
keep going without a guaranteed result. I grew curious why
businesses pay so much for work software could simply do.
So I taught myself to build. Today I'm Chief of Staff at Clinsight
AI, building AI growth systems for clinics, after founding
Valegate in bank compliance. Before that: e-commerce, painting
crews, and a summer behind a coffee bar on a mountain.
My faith shapes how I think about discipline, integrity, and
generosity. Ability and opportunity are trusts. Achievement
counts for more when it serves someone else.
Own a clinic? I'll assess your growth gaps at no cost. Just ask.
Botao Tang.

Services

Clinic Valuation
Most owners have never seen a defensible number for their own practice. I
work through the financials, the patient base, and the operating reality to
produce one. The first pass is at no cost.
Free Valuation Consultation
A first-pass estimate of what your clinic is worth, with the reasoning shown, at no cost
Financial Review
Work through revenue, margin, and owner add-backs to find the earnings a buyer would underwrite
Multiple Benchmarking
Compare your practice against what comparable clinics actually trade for, not what listings claim
Exit Readiness
Identify what is suppressing your valuation and what is realistically fixable before a sale
Deal Structuring
Weigh earnouts, holdbacks, and terms so the headline number matches what you take home
Contract Negotiation
Represent your side through LOI, diligence, and definitive agreements
Buy-Side Diligence
Pressure-test a clinic you are acquiring before the money moves
Go-To-Market & Growth
Five years of B2C go-to-market, a million-plus views earned rather than
bought, and a hundred clinics scaled. I help you find demand before you
spend to manufacture it.
Go-To-Market Strategy
Select the segment, the message, and the channel before committing budget to any of them
B2C Acquisition
Build a paid and organic motion where the unit economics survive contact with reality
Patient Volume Growth
Grow appointment volume through referral, retention, and local demand rather than discounting
Content & Social
Earn attention in the first two seconds: the approach behind a million-plus organic views
Pricing Strategy
Set prices against value delivered and willingness to pay, not against the clinic down the street
Multi-Site Expansion
Take what works at one location and make it repeatable at the next ten
Partnership Development
Open referral and channel relationships that keep producing after the first introduction
Operations & Talent
Recruiting and project management are the two skills I lean on hardest. A
business moves at the speed of the people inside it, so most operating
problems are hiring problems in disguise.
Recruiting
Source, screen, and close the hires who move the business forward
Founding Team Hiring
Build the first five roles at a startup, where a single wrong hire is expensive for years
Clinical Staffing
Fill provider and support roles in a market where strong candidates have options
Project Management
Sequence the work, hold the deadline, and surface bad news early enough to act on it
Process Design
Document what the best person on the team does, then make it the default for everyone
Vendor Negotiation
Renegotiate supplier and service contracts that quietly compound against your margin
Cross-Border Operations
Run teams and customers across languages and time zones without losing the thread

Process

How I Value a Clinic
A valuation is only useful if the owner can follow the reasoning. I work
through the same sequence every time, and I show my work at each
step rather than handing over a number and a handshake.
Intake Conversation
Understand the practice, the owner, and what the number is for: a sale, a loan, or a decision
Financial Normalization
Strip out owner discretionary spend and one-offs to find the earnings a buyer would underwrite
Revenue Quality Review
Separate durable recurring revenue from volume that leaves with one departing provider
Patient Base Analysis
Assess concentration, retention, and referral mix, because a clinic is its patient list
Operating Benchmark
Compare staffing, utilization, and margin against clinics of similar size and specialty
Comparable Transactions
Anchor the multiple to what similar practices actually sold for, not to asking prices
Sensitivity Analysis
Present the range, not a single figure, and name the assumptions that move it most
Findings Walkthrough
Present the number alongside the reasoning so the owner can challenge any part of it
Value Improvement Plan
Identify the two or three changes with the largest effect on the number twelve months out
How I Operate
Ten years across clinics, software, e-commerce, and job sites taught me
that the method matters more than the industry. Get the people and the
sequencing right and most other problems become tractable.
Define the Constraint
Find the one thing limiting the business before spending effort anywhere else
Talk to Customers First
Go to the people paying before building the plan, every time, without exception
Size the Bet
Scope work so a wrong answer costs weeks rather than quarters
Hire Ahead of the Curve
Recruit for the constraint you will have in six months, not the one you have today
Write It Down
Turn what the best person on the team does into a process everyone can follow
Sequence the Work
Order tasks by dependency and risk so the hardest unknowns surface early
Negotiate Early
Settle terms while both sides still have alternatives, not once a deadline removes them
Measure Two Numbers
Pick the pair that genuinely reflects health and resist dashboard sprawl
Kill What Is Not Working
Decide in advance what would make you stop, then stop when it happens
Escalate Bad News
Tell clients and partners early. The problem is rarely as costly as the surprise
Close the Loop
Review what the decision assumed against what it produced, then adjust the next one
